Monday - Introduce the story of the week, “The Stone,” page 29. Discuss predictions and moral lessons. Define vocabulary words identifying synonyms and antonyms for each. Grammar Link - Review the difference between “don’t” and “doesn’t” and when to use each, p.40. Grammar - Review the difference between action and linking verbs. Wednesday – Read and discuss “The Stone,” page 30 – 37. Complete a brief comprehension quiz on the story. Review vocabulary words, and complete a graphic organizer to sequence the events in the story. Grammar - Complete Exercise 7 page 319, Distinguishing Between Action and Linking Verbs. Thursday - Listen to “The Stone” on CD before completing the skills test.
