Introduce and copy the spelling words and define vocabulary words using context clues from the story. (6.1.10) Grammar Link – Discuss subject/ verb agreement, page 143. Complete “Try It Out,” and page 115 in the English workbook, Subject/ Verb Agreement, as practice. (6.3.3)
Grammar – Introduce the 4th technique for combining sentences, forming adjective and adverb phrases, page 32. Complete Exercise 4 page 32, Combining by Using Clauses, as guided practice. (6.2.9) (6.3.8)

Identify the literary elements from “Ta-na-e-ka” with an emphasis on sequence of events and conflict (internal and external). Review the spelling and vocabulary words from the story. Vocabulary and Comprehension, page 59 (Holt Reader). (6.1.10) (6.1.21) Grammar – Review the ways to combine sentences. Complete Exercise 12 page 444, Combining by Using Clauses, as individual practice. (6.2.9) (6.3.8)
