Grammar – Complete Exercise 34 page 347, Identifying Adverbs, and Exercise 35 page 347, Identifying Adverbs and the Words They Modify. (6.3.4)
Homework – Writing – Final draft of 5-paragraph essay due tomorrow

Tuesday – Writing – Final draft of 5-paragraph essay due today. LOGIC and ENRICHMENT with Mrs. Triplett and Mrs. Beauford.
Homework – Grammar – Complete workbook page 31, Adjective or Adverb

Wednesday – Shortened class due to the TCAP Writing Assessment. Discuss tone and the elements of an ode. Introduce and give the definitions for the Spanish words in the poem. Read “Ode to Mi Gato” page 635 – 637. Identify examples of similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeia, personification, sensory details, and vivid verbs in the ode. Compare the tone of this poem to the tone of “Sneetches.” (6.1.13) (6.1.18) (6.1.25)
Grammar – Complete Exercise 23 page 345, Adjective or Adverb, as individual practice. (6.3.4)

Thursday – Read “Ankylosaurus.” Discuss rhyme, rhyming scheme, end rhyme, and internal rhyme. Identify the examples of onomatopoeia from the poem. Use context clues to identify the definitions of unfamiliar words in the poem. (6.1.10) (6.1.13) (6.1.18) (6.1.25)
