Book Report - 2nd Nine Weeks “The Cay”

2nd 9-weeks
Due – Thursday, December 13, 2007
Choose one of the following projects to complete for your 2nd 9 weeks book report. The projects should be completed on the novel we are presently reading, “The Cay” by Theodore Taylor.
1. Create a game board based on the events and skills studied throughout The Cay. You must include the following: a gameboard, clear and easy-to-follow directions, a spinner or die, cards, playing pieces, and a fun name! Include comprehension and skill questions for the players to answer to move around the board.

2. Write and illustrate a picture book based on the main events in The Cay. This picture book should be written and illustrated for a first or second grade reader. Make sure your main events are in chronological order. Pay attention to the simple language, dialogue, and illustrations that support the text.
3. Prepare a time capsule with items that represent the main events in The Cay. Record a list of the items that you want to include. Then, make a time capsule by putting at least 8 items (or drawing of the items) into a box. As you place each item in the box, write an explanation why it was include and what it represents.
