Due Date:  Friday, May 16, 2008

Dear Parents,

The fourth nine weeks book report is Accelerated Reader Points.  Students are required to read Accelerated Reader books.  These are books that have computerized comprehension tests with them.  Students must read AR books at home and take the tests at school.  If students cannot find an AR book in our school library, they must check out a book at Memphis or Germantown Public library.  Be sure to check our AR list before checking out a book to ensure that we have the test available at GMS.

•    Points Required:  20 points
•    You may only read three books to get your AR points
•    Reading Level- 6.0 or above
•    All points must be in by May 16, 2008

Grading Rubric:
20 points or more- 100
18 - 19 points - 90
16 - 17 points - 80
13 – 15 points – 70
9 – 12 points - 60
5 - 8 points - 50
1 – 4 points – 40

How to accomplish this requirement:
•    Take the test as soon as you complete the book.
•    Check out another AR book as soon as you finish a book either when you arrive at school or on your scheduled library day.
•    Since many students do not make a 100% on every test, please pace yourself so that you will have EXTRA time towards the end of the 7 weeks to check out an extra book if needed.
