Burial Tomb Project-due 12/18/07
BURIAL TOMB PROJECT
DUE DATE: MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2007
Directions:
Compose a burial tomb for your mummy. You are pretending that the mummy is you in Ancient Egyptian times. What would your tomb look like? What things would be in your tomb so the Gods can recognize you in the afterlife?
Your tomb should be decorated in order to prepare your mummy for its afterlife. The walls of your tomb should be decorated with hieroglyphics and pictures of your mummy being analyzed by the Gods, Anubis and Osiris. Inside the tomb should be the following: a form of transportation in case your mummy needs to travel across a river like the Nile, food or pictures of food, canopic jars sculpted from play doh or clay, and other Egyptian artifacts that will be needed in the afterlife or to help the Gods identify you in the afterlife. Make sure to use your name in hieroglyphics often so the Gods know what to call you. Don’t forget to decorate the outside!
Your tomb should be made from a shoebox. Make sure you keep the lid. The inside and outside should be decorated according to ancient Egyptian art. The inside artifacts and amulets can be sculpted from playdoh or clay or they can be shown as pictures printed from the computer. You may also find items around the house to be placed in your tomb to identify you in the afterlife. Remember: the greater the tomb, the more significant you were in Ancient Egypt. If you were a pharaoh, you had the most elaborate and extravagant artifacts.
